PSAT Results Sent Home!
 
Due to the administration of Semester Exams, PSAT results will be distributed on January 31, 2012 along with a page explaining the scores.  Parents and Students may also access a more detailed presentation called, "Understanding Results from the 2011 PSAT/NMSQT" by clicking here!

Teens for Jeans

       
The National Honor Society of Potomac Senior High School is sponsoring "Teens for Jeans" in cooperation with Aeropostale and "dosomething.org".  This effort collects jeans in good condition for redistribution to young people in need in our community.

Potomac Senior High will be hosting a career fair for all grade levels on February 15, 2012 at 7:00 pm in the locker bay.  Various local businesses will share information about a particular career, have handouts available for students , and answers to questions you may have for them.  Please Join us for an opportunity to learn more about careers that interest you!

Super Saturday!
 
Super Saturday is a free event, open to the general public, that offers one-on-one assistance with completing the FAFSA.  All college-bound and returning college students and parents are encouraged to attend.  It will occur on January 28, 2012.

Mandatory Parent/Student Drivers Ed Meeting!

There will be a Driver's Education meeting on the following dates and at the locations set forth for parents and students.  These are mandatory for parents and students.

February 6 @ Freedom H.S., 7:00 pm
February 15 @Osbourn Park H.S., 7:00 pm
February 22 @ Battlefield H.S., 7:00 pm
February 28 @ Brentsville H.S., 7:00 pm

Virginia Code §22.1-205 Driver education programs, requires students to accompany their parents/guardians to participate in a 90-minute traffic safety program as part of their in-classroom driver education curriculum. This program requirement must be met before a student receives a Driver Education Certificate of Completion card (DEC-1 card). 

Hispanic / Latino Scholarship Opportunity!
 
UVA offers scholarship opportunity to Hispanic / Latin students!

A cost-free, over-night visitation program at the University of Virginia will take place on March 16 and 17, 2012.  the objective of the program is to encourage students of Hispanic and Latino descent to pursue a college education and to consider studying STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) fields.  The application is due February 14, 2012 and consists of a letter and a recommendation.

Special Education Meet and Greet!
 The Office of Special Education Parent Resource Center will host a meet and greet for parents of students who attend the autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and intellectual disabilities programs. Parents will have the opportunity to meet the supervisor and administrative coordinators who will answer general questions regarding programs for students with ASD and intellectual disabilities. General questions about the disabilities may also be discussed. Parents are welcome to attend any or all sessions.
