"An important goal of any NJROTC program is indeed to teach military standards and procedures. However, the overall purpose is not simply to raise interest in military service, it is to become a better leader as an individual and as a team. The lessons learned every year are passed on to the next generation, and though not all of leadership can be taught, NJROTC gives students the means to understand from personal experience what it takes to be a leader. The three navy core values are Honor, Courage, and Commitment. Through the NJROTC program, the students do not simply know the definition of these words, they understand what they mean."
